FAQ
As a therapist, are you suitably qualified?
All our studies and exams have been classroom based with all Diplomas and Certificates viewable on request. We are registered with the National Society of Professional Hypnotherapists and the NLP Academy Scotland. We are insured for Hypnotherapy Practice up to £2,000,000 liability.
I'm very cautious and concerned about booking a Hypnotherapist, how do I know if you are right for me?
We offer a free consultation which is included in the first session to see if Hypnosis and NLP can benefit you. This gives you the opportunity to say if you wish to continue on with the therapy sessionbut more importantly, use it to meet us and to decide if we are the right therapists for you.
Book an appointment and judge for yourself…you can always bring someone with you for the initial consultation.
Can anybody be hypnotised?
Anyone can be hypnotised as long as they want to be and have an ability to concentrate, everyone goes into natural altered (otherwise known as ‘Hypnotic state’) state at some point as in Daydream. It is not appropriate for very young children or people with certain mental disabilities. We cannot and would not force you to go into hypnosis against your will.
Will I lose control?
No, you remain in control and should be conscious at all times We or any other Hypnotherapist cannot have control over you.
Will I made to do something silly?
NO !! Any Hypnotherapist will not make you do anything you would not normally do. This realm is left for Stage Hypnotists.
What is the Hypnotic State?
The Hypnotic state is simply an altered state of awareness, in which the client's attention is focused on inner resources. Although everyone's experience of hypnosis is slightly different, you'll always feel both comfortable and relaxed, and may experience a pleasant sense of "drifting" and detachment from your surroundings.
What does the Hypnotherapy session involve?
Although every session is different, we will first discuss in some detail the changes you want to achieve, and then explain how it all works so it will relate to the therapy used. Everything is then geared to achieving that positive outcome. Progressive relaxation will be used to achieve a resourceful and relaxed physical and mental state. We then induce a hypnotic state and make powerful therapeutic suggestions, tailored to the client as a unique individual, to the unconscious part of the client's mind, in order to achieve the positive outcome.
How many sessions will I need?
To stop smoking usually one single session although, that depends on your motivation and desire to change. Everybody is different. However, hypnotherapy is a very effective therapy and we will want to help you in the minimum number of sessions possible. We will review your progress so that at any time you can make a valued judgement about how the therapy is progressing and if any more sessions will be required.
How long does a session last?
The first session usually lasts up to 2 hours with the first hour being the initial consultation where we get to know each other and explore your expectations. Most sessions last around an hour.
Is all information and personal details kept confidential?
Yes, 100%
How often will I need to see the Hypnotherapist?
This depends on the type of problem and on the progress made. We will usually see you once a week. However some clients see us once a fortnight or even once a month depending on the circumstances.
Can somebody come with me?
For the initial consultation this is not a problem although for the therapy session it will be on a one to one basis
Will I be OK to drive or work after the session?
